Fine motor development.

Punching machine, various soft materials to punch, thread.

Threading is one of the pre-writing skills, which is essential for kids before they started to write on their own. Itโs a tremendous pincer grip activity which gives excellent strength to the finger muscles. It is a wonderful hand and eye coordination skill.
- Select some thin materials. In this pic, I took peels of orange, cucumber, and carrot, paper cups, foam sheet, leaves.
- It is a bit hard for the kid to hold the material and punch it with the machine. So I was helping her in holding the materials.
- After punching, ask them to thread them one by one using the thread..

Materials needed
Punching machine, various soft materials to punch.

Scissor activity is a great pre-writing skill which helps to develop hand muscles, finger muscles in particular. It gives the excellent opportunity to use every other portion of hand. Kids need strong muscles before they start to write, so itโs good to do such kind of activities before they start writing.
- Itโs a bit hard to hold the paper with one hand and use the scissor in the beginning stage.
- So, I have used some strong materials than paper-like fruits and vegetable peel, foam sheet, leaves.
- It gives some confidence in their work; then we can slowly introduce the paper.
- The scissor is made up of stainless steel blades and is kids safe one. But always be with the kid while they are doing this kind of activity.
