Popsicle Matching

Materials needed

Cardboard, Pen, Popsicles

  • Draw different lines and provide the popsicle
  • Let them match the popsicle with the lines.

Shape Sorting with foam material

Benefits

Fine motor development, Develops Concentration, Understanding shapes

Age

27 to 30 months

Materials needed

Thermocol, Different color foam sheets, pen, pipe cleaners.

  • Cut out the foam sheets into various shapes (Circle, triangle, etc. ).
  • Draw the shapes in thermocol and place the pipe cleaners on top of each shape.
  • Let the kid sort the shapes as per the drawing.
  • Since the pipe cleaner is not firm as like stick, kids need to hold it with one hand and insert the foam sheets with another. It’s a good activity to use both the hands at the same time.

Pipe cleaner in the Straw

Benefits

27 to 30 months

Materials needed

Straw , Pipe cleaner.

  • Provide some straws and pipe cleaners.
  • Let them insert the pipe cleaners through the straw.
  • Will be great if we have same color straw and pipe cleaners. Can be used as a color matching activity too.

Hammer and Golf tees

Fine motor development, Hand-eye coordination

27 to 30 months

Materials needed

Golf tees, Wooden hammer, cardboard

  • Poke a hole in the cardboard box.
  • Prove the golf tees and a wooden hammer.
  • Let the kid do some punching activity.

Walking over various texture

Benefits

Sensorial development, Gross motor development.

Age

27 to 30 months

Materials needed

Any different textured material- I have used cardboard pieces, foam sheets, crochet thread, pillows, stool , cardboard boxes.

  • Cut down the top portion of cardboard boxes.
  • Filled up with readily available harmless various textured materials.
  • Arrange everything in a row and ask the kid to walk over them.
  • My daughter engaged and enjoyed herself with this activity for more than 30 min.
  • It’s a great gross motor activity during winter days.
