4-6 month old baby activities

During these months , most of the babies rolled over and like to be on their tummy. They try to move forward , make a 180 degree round, love to touch things. Some activities can be done to encourage these actions.

Activity Name :Circular movement

Benefits: Gross motor, fine motor and sensorial development

Required age: After 3 months

Material needed: Any safe objects

  • Keep different textured toys/objects around the baby.
  • Let them move in a circular motion and grab it.
  • Keeping different textured material helps for sensorial development

Activity Name :Circular movement

Benefits: Gross motor, fine motor and sensorial development

Required age: After 3 months

Material needed: Different textured clothes

  • Keep different textured clothes and let the baby explore them. I have kept cotton, silk, fleece, wool etc.
  • It is not safe to keep the clothes on mouth as the thread may get struck inside. So , please be careful while doing this .

Activity Name :Scooting /Forward movement

Benefits: Gross motor, fine motor and sensorial development

Required age: After 3 months

Material needed: Any safe objects , kitchen items

  • After the circular movement my baby started to move forward, to encourage the same I have kept few items at some distance. More than any toys, he is more interested in kitchen items .
  • Keep some safe cups. Make sure the corners are blunt and not sharp.

Let them scoot and grab it. They start to keep things in mouth. Keep it clean and provide it.

Activity Name : Vision development

Benefits: Gross motor and vision development

Required age: After 5 months

Material needed: Books with different colored images

  • Babies have good color vision starting from 5th month. We can encourage it with books.
  • Keep a board book at some distance and let them look and observe it

    My kids have grown up this cute age, and I’m happy that I had made them play all these activities.
    Such home fun activities are great way to teach kids circular motion, motor skills, holding power, recognition, etc.
